Save Compassionate Care in California
Thank you for joining CCIA’s efforts to urge Governor Newsom to sign SB 34, saving compassionate care programs in California. SB 34, otherwise known as the Dennis Peron and Brownie Mary Act, will reinvigorate compassion programs by allowing cannabis businesses to donate cannabis tax-free to low-income medicinal patients. Unfortunately, compassion programs were left out of Proposition 64 and since its passage have been unable to donate cannabis without paying the cultivation, excise, and use taxes associated. SB 34 will save lives by allowing cannabis retailers to give product designated explicitly as “donation” to low-income medicinal patients tax-free.
